a wedding in the park...

Last weekend, future mother-in-law assured me that whatever Matt and I wanted to do for the wedding would be fine with her. I'm taking her word. At least now she can't say that I didn't ask!

So I promptly called the town clerk on Monday to reserve the shelter/gazebo at the park in Bangor. We can decorate up the gazebo a bit, and in August, it should be pretty nice out there. Glad to have THAT decision behind me.

I'm taking it back...

I'm taking back my wedding. Yes, that's right! I'm taking it back, and I'm starting over.

Somehow, somewhere along the line, things started to happen, and it was like making a snowman. One tiny little snowball miraculously turned into a huge freakin fat snowman. I woke up one day and said, "whoa, when did THAT happen?"

I thought this was supposed to be about what I wanted? Isn't it??? Well, it SHOULD be.

I want my small, fun wedding back. Matt can take over the planning if he wants to invite so damn many people. Seriously. Why do we need to invite ALL Matt's dad's friends? Hello? Who's paying for the food and beer these people will eat and drink? We have enough people on the guest list with just OUR families and close friends.

And I do NOT think I'm being selfish. Anyone, anyone???

It's not to late to go to Vegas....

crepes

Saturday I made crepes with my girlfriends. Crepes with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum! It reminded us all of a long-ago day in high school French class. A good memory, back to a time when we were carefree teenagers. Then we spent the day pampering each other - facials, pedicures, manicures, etc. It was like an adult slumber party and it was good.

parent-teacher, salad, and girlfriends

I just got back from my son's parent-teacher conference. She suggested that he may have a hearing problem. And here I thought he was just ignoring me! How bad of a parent am I?!? So you can bet I'll be making an appt to have that checked ASAP.

Today marks day 10 of the salad diet that my girlfriend from work and I embarked upon. She's still trying to lose baby weight, and I'm hoping to fit just a little better in that dress come August. And already the scale (and my pants) say that I've lost about 2 pounds. So I'm sticking with it!

I can't wait for Saturday. Two of my best girlfriends and I are getting together for brunch. We're making crepes with strawberries and cream. Yum! Then we're going to sit around and yak and do our nails and all of that girly stuff we used to do on sleepovers. We're going to forget our cares and just be girls again. And my wonderful fiance is babysitting, AND taking my kids to swimming lessons. I love him, I love him, I love him!

the wedding dress

Last night the best friend and I went dress shopping in V. And, after soundly professing to myself and anyone else who cared to listen that I ONLY wanted a simple dress, what did I do? Of course, what else? Fell in love with this beautiful, poufy, princess-looking, exquisite creation. *sigh* I know, I know, apparently there was some sort of disconnect between what I said I wanted and what I wanted deep down. And now, everything else will pale in comparison, and I won't be happy with another dress. So it looks like I've got a dress!!

My friend says it was meant for me. And I know it will knock future hubby's socks off.
